Greets and Huggers.  Posted the evening of September 29, 2006, (actually, a little after midnight).  Sorry.  Ran out of time.  Actually practiced law this week   ...  and campaigned.  The Holden Fair is this Thursday - Saturday.  I have a booth at the Fair.  Earlier this evening attended the annual Johnson County Bar Association meeting.  Don't really have a Ramblings tonight  ...  so I guess I will post the notes I took this week   ...

And for those that like to buy into a conspiracy:   ( CNN) --  Police: 2 Sago Mine workers kill themselves. "Two men who worked at West Virginia's Sago Mine during the January disaster that killed 12 miners have committed suicide in the past month, state police said Tuesday.  John Nelson Boni, 63, fatally shot himself Saturday, and William Lee "Flea" Chisolm, 47, shot himself to death August 29, said State Police Capt M.J. Trupo. The men did not leave suicide notes, Trupo said."  There is a pending law suit by the families of the 12 miners.  Share with me   ...  what are the odds that two former Sago Mine workers that  "were working at the Sago Mine on January 2 when an explosion trapped 13 miners in the mine shaft, according to testimony they gave before the West Virginia Mine Safety and Health Division earlier this year."  would snuff themselves in the same week?

ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) --  Passengers adjust to new security rules.  "Travelers showed up at airports with toiletries stored in zip-top plastic bags Tuesday as they tried to comply with new security rules allowing them to carry on small amounts of liquids and gels. "I was thrilled to hear yesterday that actually you can carry mascara on the plane," said Val Chamberlain of Atlanta, who showed security screeners a plastic bag filed with mascara and small toiletries   ...  Travelers can also buy drinks or other liquids or gels at shops inside airport security checkpoints and carry them on board under the partially relaxed anti-terror rules."  Rumor has it   ...  Halliburton has organized a new subsidiary to supply drinks and other liquids at airports.  Don't you just love good old fashioned American entrepreneurship?  Corporate America stepping in to fill a need? They are outsourcing the manufacture  of the products to China.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) --  Earth may be at warmest point in 1 million years. "Earth may be close to the warmest it has been in the last million years, especially in the part of the Pacific Ocean where potentially violent El Nino weather patterns are born, climate scientists reported on Monday.  This doesn't necessarily mean there will be more frequent El Ninos -- which can disrupt normal weather around the world -- but could well mean that these wild patterns will be stronger when they occur, said James Hansen of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York City."   Although Reuters looked really hard   ...   they could not find anybody living a million years ago, to comment.  A spokesman from the "Creation Science" group did comment.  "Bunk science!  The earth is only 5 thousand years old.  Where do these Satanist, Anti-Christian scientists come up with this cr*p!"  Republicans pointed out, it would be a boost for the air conditioning industry, (especially the folks building the air conditioners in China) and this is obviously a terrorist threat we need to deal with by having "Homeland Security" folks stationed in every home.  And Democrats just blame Bush  ...  while Libertarians are working on a consensus  ...  any consensus ...  about what to think or say, (as passionate as they are, as good and valid the points they make  ...  don't see them getting close any time soon).

BBC    --  Organ sales 'thriving' in China. "The sale of organs taken from executed prisoners appears to be thriving in China  ...  Organs from death row inmates are sold to foreigners who need transplants  ...  One official said that the prisoners volunteered to give their organs as a "present to society".   He said there was currently an organ surplus because of an increase in executions ahead of the 1 October National Day."   Unfortunately,  there was some misunderstanding, perhaps a mistake in translation   ...  'the prisoners  [who]  volunteered to give their organs as a "present to society".  ... were all convicted sex offenders.

It's 12:50am and I'm trying to figure out how to raise an additional $1,800.00 for newspaper ads, while making sure a Ramblings is posted, (there has been a Ramblings every Friday night since 2/2002) .   I have another "pancake breakfast" in the morning  ...  the booth at Holden's Fair to man tomorrow  ...  a ceremony by Holden's American Legion Post 90, (I have been an American Legion member for 29 years), at 3:30, honoring our Veterans  ...  and then the parade at 5:30.   I have been asked, by the American Legion Honor Guard leading the parade, to carry our Flag.  If I do,  I can't march as a candidate in the parade.  Guess I have a choice to make, (have the privilege and honor, (anonymously), of  carrying the symbol of our America in Holden   ...   or  ... leading my parade campaign crew).   All my friends argue  ...  make the most  out of being in the parade as a candidate.   It will help you get elected.  You will gain votes.  Susan is asleep and has not voiced an opinion.  I will carry our Flag.  Bad choice, no doubt, for my campaign  ...  but the right choice.  Doing the right thing always seems harder, almost always involves sacrifice  ...  and places other interests above your own.  I guess, if doing the right thing was easy, everybody would do it every time.  I have never found it easy  ...  have you?

I want to curl up next to Susan and go to sleep.  I am way tired.  Even so  ...  I will say a prayer for the safe and soon return of our men and women in uniform, (care to join me?)   ... Please, Please, Please, God  ... let them come home safe and soon!.  Nothing in these Ramblings to offend  ... so I guess there is no need for me to apologize, should there be, I apologize.  Be and sleep well  ...  and as always  ... a Warm Brotherly Hug.

Karl  (way tired and still a dumb ole country lawyer)

Greets and Huggers. It is 12:05, October 1, 2006. I am tired to the bone and look forward to curling myself around Susan and going to sleep ... but thought I would share. [Please, please, please understand. The purpose of our little "Family" is not to get quick and easy answers to legal questions ... but to share our lives, so we do not feel like we are here, alone, twisting in the wind!! ], I carried "Old Glory" in the American Legion/VFW honor guard today, leading the Holden Fair Parade. Made my heart sing, to see the majority of spectators, stand, come to attention, remove their ball caps/hats and place them over their hearts ... while "Old Glory" passed by them. Few young people did. Course, why would they? They have not had to sacrifice anything ... they do not understand, they are the beneficiaries of sacrifices made, no doubt, by better persons than I or them. It was an HONOR, (certainly not deserved by me), to carry the Flag representing our America, in the parade. My election crew was 43rd in the parade. When we reached the dispersal point ... I handed "Old Glory" to a fellow veteran ... and rushed to be with my Crew ... and walked the parade route again ... as a candidate. I walked 5 miles today ... in about an hour ... you have no idea, how much my feet and legs hurt ... and ... how proud I am ... to be an American Citizen, (naturalized, Mineloa, New York, 1965). You have no idea how many, take, the privilege of being an American Citizen for granted, because they were born here. Susan calls ... and there is nothing in this life for me ... better, than holding her as I fall asleep. G'Night ... and
