Greets and Huggers. Posted the evening of April 21, 2006. A
drastic solution. We are losing the war on terror ... for every terrorist we
kill, another steps up to be a "Martyr". In some instances,
"Martyrdom" is State sanctioned/sponsored .... TEHRAN,
Iran (Reuters) -- Iranian group signing up potential martyrs. "Some
200 Iranians have volunteered in the past few days to carry out "martyrdom
missions" against U.S. and British interests around the world if Iran is
attacked, a hard-line group said Sunday. The United States and other Western
nations accuse Iran of seeking to master enrichment technology to build atomic
weapons, a charge Iran denies. Washington says it wants a diplomatic solution,
but has not ruled out a military option ... The news of potential martyrs came
as The Institute for Science and International Security, a U.S. think tank,
said Sunday that Iran has expanded its uranium conversion facilities in Isfahan
and reinforced its Natanz underground uranium enrichment plant." In
the last Ramblings, I shared, that the solution to solving the "illegal
alien" problem in our America ... was to punish, (criminally and
economically), employers, to a point, they would/will not hire "illegal
aliens" .... the result being .... there would be no jobs for
"illegal aliens" coming to our America. Remove the incentive to come
here. Also, deny social services. Just offer a free ticket home. Once in place,
why would anyone risk life and limb to come to our America, illegally? In that
light, I have been thinking about Paul Ivy's post, in a "recruiting
martyrs" context. His post, from awhile back, about executing Mr.
Moussaoui, the 19th, 9/11 terrorist, (currently on trial to determine if he
should be executed). Paul wrote: "In my opinion, (i) he should, and
(ii) he should be strapped to a table, have all of his blood replaced by that
of a large hog, the large hog should then be killed and skinned, Moussaoui
should be sown up in the bloody skin, and then cremated alive, so that his soul
and the soul of the hog are joined for all eternity, and he will be prevented, if
only in his beliefs, from entering Paradise. This process should be
televised, and the rest of the Muslim world should know that this will be the
fate of all Muslim terrorists (even if we have to settle for scraping their
self-destroyed remains from a market place where they died by blowing
themselves up, and sewing that up in the bloody skin of a hog and
cremated)". At the time, I thought Paul's post pretty barbaric ... but
I have been thinking about it ... and trying to understand why a person would
wish to be a "Martyr". The allure of a promise/faith, guaranteed
entry into paradise, I suppose, for some, no different than getting to America
... a job, which affords shelter, ample food, health care ... a better life. On
Monday, TEL AVIV, Israel (CNN) -- Suicide blast kills 9, wounds dozens at
restaurant. "A suicide bombing that killed nine people at an Israeli
restaurant Monday provoked conflicting responses from Palestinian leaders,
underscoring the recent power shift within the Palestinian Authority ... A
Hamas spokesman, in an interview with Al-Jazeera television, described Monday's
attack as an "act of self-defense" against the Israeli
occupation." Just when did killing innocent people become a form of
"self defense"? Suppose, we announce/broadcast, that the scene of any
suicide bombers "martyrdom" will be sprayed with pigs blood? And do
so. Any remains recovered, will be ground down with pig parts ... and burned?
And publically do so. Suppose we do everything we can, to block the belief
that killing innocent bystanders is a path for Islamic Martyrs to achieve
paradise? Barbaric treatment of human remains, no doubt ... but, still ... how
many would volunteer, if all believe , ALL, they will get for doing so
... is a whole bagful of being dead? No paradise, no heaven ... just dead. A
funeral is a celebration, a showing of respect, for a life well lived. Why
should we respect the bodies/remains of those who have demonstrated NO respect
for innocent human life? I suppose that begs the question, "Do those who
slaughter innocent human beings deserve a "humane"
funeral/burial?" In my eyes ... NOT .... How about a burial/funeral that
serves to dissuades others from doing the same. Want to defeat a
"Jihad" ... just take the "Holy" ... out of "Holy
War". Would it work? Don't know. Check out "Snopes
", perhaps, it would, or not.
And as a footnote to last weeks Ramblings : TULTITLAN , Mexico (AP) -- Migrants in Mexico face tough laws. "Considered felons by the government, these migrants fear detention, rape and robbery. Police and soldiers hunt them down at railroads, bus stations and fleabag hotels. Sometimes they are deported; more often officers simply take their money. While migrants in the United States have held huge demonstrations in recent weeks, the hundreds of thousands of undocumented Central Americans in Mexico suffer mostly in silence." Perhaps the folks demonstrating in the streets of our America need to spend a few weeks demonstrating in the streets of their respective home towns in Mexico. It makes no sense to make people criminals for trying to find a better life, here or in Mexico: instead, criminalize hiring an undocumented worker. Make the hiring of an undocumented worker so cost prohibitive, NO business entity would be willing to risk it. ... and in Mexico: MEXICO CITY, Mexico (AP) -- In Mexico, 'nothing gringo on May 1' "The Great American Boycott" is spreading south of the border, as activists call for Mexicans to boycott U.S. businesses on May 1 The protest is timed to coincide with a May 1 boycott of work and shopping in the United States that also has been dubbed "A Day Without Immigrants." The boycott, which grew out of huge pro-migrant marches across the United States, is designed to pressure Congress to legalize millions of undocumented people." Makes you wonder what the non-Mexican illegal aliens here had to go through to get here. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Almost makes you want to grant amnesty to non-Mexican illegal aliens, (from other South American Countries ... folks that had to travel through Mexico to get here) ... doesn't it?
BOCA GRANDE, Florida (AP) -- Florida town taxed by plague of iguanas. "Death and taxes may be life's only certainties, but for folks in this upscale island town, add iguanas. And another tax. During the last three decades, the resort community on Florida's Gulf Coast has been overrun by the black, spiny-tailed, nonnative lizards that demolish gardens, nest in attics and weaken beach dunes with burrows." Sheesh ... instead of adding another tax ... they need to view it as a potential business opportunity: open up a restaurant that specializes in exotic iguana based meals. I'm serious, (iguana is eaten by indigenous peoples, wherever iguanas are found ... aren't chickens, (birds), descended from reptiles? ), just give it an exotic name, like "sand chicken", "desert lobster" or "rock pork" (A simple "google" showed hundreds of recipes using iguana, (reportedly it is a high protein, "white" meat and ... surprise! .... tastes like chicken)). Think about it ... the basic ingredient is free and self replenishing. Just a question of "marketing" ... isn't it?
It may have dawned on you that China is emerging as a "Superpower", if it isn't already. It has a space program, third in the world, behind Russia and our America. It's military is formidable, (looking at the numbers, second only to our America ... with Russia being third). Since 1978, China's leaders have focused on market-oriented economic development. The result? "Measured on a purchasing power parity (PPP) basis, China in 2005 stood as the second-largest economy in the world after the US, although in per capita terms the country is still lower middle-income and 150 million Chinese fall below international poverty lines." China is now an ecological hell hole. An environmental disaster ... with ground water beneath most major cities so polluted, it is not fit for human consumption. The Chinese are polluting their environment at an unprecedented rate, (remember the "accident" that polluted hundreds of miles of the Songhua River). An example of what can happen when unchecked "capitalism" is THE driving force. Want another example? LONDON, England (AP) -- China 'harvesting prisoner organs'. "British transplant scientists have accused China of harvesting organs for transplant from executed prisoners. The British Transplantation Society, which represents the country's leading transplant surgeons, said mounting evidence suggested prisoners' organs were being removed without their consent or that of their families. It said the "lamentable practice" was a violation of the prisoners' human rights." .... China has a one party system ... with the party, (read that to mean, upper level party folks), having their fingers in every pot, at every social level. Corruption is rampant. And to protect their positions ... the party HAS to maintain control over information ... ergo, the following .... BEIJING, China (Reuters) -- Yahoo accused of helping jail Internet writer. "Yahoo Inc may have helped Chinese police to identify an Internet writer who was subsequently jailed for four years for subversion in the third such case, an advocacy group for journalists said on Wednesday. News implicating Yahoo in the imprisonment of Jiang Lijun in 2003 surfaced on the eve of a summit between Chinese President Hu Jintao and U.S. President George W. Bush in Washington." Knowledge is power. Hitler attained power and controlled Germany, by controlling and manipulating the information available to German Citizens, the printed and electronic press, (and over time created dossiers on German citizens). Share with me ... where our America is heading .... (how many reporters would be willing to stand and share "the emperor has no clothes") ... when reporters are compelled to reveal their "sources", (and thrown in jail when they refuse) ... when libraries can be forced to reveal what their patrons read ... and our government can monitor the conversations you and I have, (believing we have a reasonable expectations of privacy), without a warrant ... based solely on what some NSA agent feels appropriate. Share with me, how safe our liberties are, when our President, arguing his "war powers" allow him to determine which "liberties" we can continue to enjoy, or not ... in the name of protecting us from "terrorists", during a time he declared a state of war, (not our Congress). The rights contained in our Bill of Rights, have a down side: in some instances, they allow evil persons to hide behind them. But isn't the benefit greater? ... Average, hard working, mainstream Americans, curling up next to the loves of their lives, secure in the privacy of their homes ... free and protected from the whims, suspicions and fiat ... of agents of the FBI, CIA and NSA? I respectfully dissent with our President on this issue. I expect ALL elected officials to abide by, honor and enforce the rights guaranteed by the contract I have, (and each American has), with them. .... and .... yesterday, the Attorney General of our America called for more investigative powers using the pedophile card: WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Gonzales gives child porn 'wake-up call'. "Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on Thursday issued what he termed a "wake-up call" to the growing problems of pedophiles prowling the Internet and online images of sexual abuse of children. "It is not an exaggeration to say that we are in the midst of an epidemic in the production and trafficking of movies and images depicting the sexual abuse of children," Gonzales said ... He said he is sending to Congress a legislative package that includes greater penalties and improved cooperation from Internet service providers." Yes indeed, no doubt, the same "cooperation" the Chinese Government demanded from Yahoo. I'm curious. Share with me ... what has caused this sudden increase in pedophiles? What is causing this epidemic? What is causing normal, healthy Americans, to become child rapists? The "Global Warming" this administration doesn't believe exists? ... or .... could it be that there is no increase ... our government has just gotten better at "data-mining", (ferreting out the Internet activities of these wastes of good skin)?
In a parallel piece of news ..... HARTSVILLE, South Carolina (AP) -- State pushes execution for repeat rapists of children. "Neighborhood teenagers called him Uncle Kenny, the wiry man whose trailer sat on a junk-strewn lot behind thick pines and a "No Trespassing" sign where the paved road turns to dirt. Kenneth Glenn Hinson, 47, had no children but seemed to treat his neighbors' kids as if they were his own. He would pile them into his pickup truck for weekend outings at Johnson Lake and roast marshmallows with them during sleepovers at his home ... Two 17-year-old girls fled Hinson's property last month, saying he had taken them from a home, bound their mouths and wrists with duct tape and raped them in a shallow dungeon under a trapdoor in his tool shed. Hinson was captured March 17 after a four-day manhunt ... A week after Hinson's arrest, South Carolina's Senate voted 38-4 to allow the death penalty for sex offenders convicted a second time of raping children younger than 11. Oklahoma lawmakers are considering a similar bill." Being a "kiddie diddler" is a sexual preference ... not an "orientation". In other words, a "choice". Does this "choice" warrant the death penalty ... versus prison with no hope of parole? I guess reasonable, honorable persons can differ over the answer. But given the recidivism rate of pedophiles, I have no doubt we can all agree that we can not risk them ever having access to children. How we go about doing that, is another matter.
SAN FRANCISCO, California (Reuters) -- Future sex gizmos: Reach out and touch someone. "When America's top sex researchers gathered recently to discuss the next decade in their field, some envisioned a future in which artificial sex partners could cater to every fantasy ... A field dubbed "teledildonics" already allows people at two remote computers to manipulate electronic devices such as a vibrator at the other end for sexual purposes. "People who use it are just blown away," said Steve Rhodes, president of Sinulate Entertainment, which has sold thousands of Internet-connected sex devices over the past three years. "This is not something that just the lunatic fringe does." Sinulate Entertainment has sold "thousands" of Internet-connected sex devices? Ewwwwwww! I'm pretty open minded, I certainly have no desire to impose my moral criteria on anyone, (you want to marry your horse ... feel free ... just don't invite me to the wedding) ... but this even "weirds" me out! Folks sitting behind their computers, video-conferencing ... manipulating a robotic dildo .... or ... a robotic vagina, in "real time"? Aside from the fact, sex for me, remains the ultimate intimacy ... the most private communication/sharing of mutual love and respect, not a spectator sport, not a video game ... not something you do because you are bored, (unless you wish to play a hand of solitaire), or need a thrill fix ... what kind of moron allows a third party, they have never met in person, hydraulic, mechanical, robotic access to some parts, which, if abused .... could really, really cause some serious pain/damage? Let's see if "natural selection" really works!
The current Mumps epidemic serves as a damn good model for how Avian Flu would progress .... DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Cases reported in eight states, suspected in seven more. "In the worst outbreak in nearly 20 years, mumps cases are spilling out of Iowa, popping up in at least seven other Midwestern states and perhaps seven more -- leading to promises of extra vaccine from the U.S. stockpile. There are no deaths and few hospitalizations being reported from the disease, which health officials believe got a boost from air travel. But the nation's federal health agency said Wednesday it's the largest outbreak in almost two decades with more than 1,000 cases and it's expected to keep growing." Mumps is a virus that has the same basic infection paradigm as Avian Flu. Fortunately, mumps is seldom life threatening. It does not speak well of our preparedness, that the epidemic keeps growing. Keep in mind ... WE HAVE A VACCINE! When Avian Flu hits ... there will be no vaccine, only a limited number of anti-viral meds/doses and a quarantine. WASHINGTON (AP) -- Bird flu plan to include drive-through exams. "In the event of a bird flu outbreak, U.S. money could be produced overseas and Americans checked in drive-through medical exams for signs of infection, according to government plans being finalized ... The plan assumes a worst-case scenario that as many as 90 million people in the U.S. would become sick and 2 million would die during a worldwide flu pandemic ... It envisions people may need to avoid human contact and stay home from work, school and other large gathering places," Gee, doesn't that sound familiar? Have you set up your quarantine stash, yet?
Sitting here editing these Ramblings, (checking links) and getting ready to campaign at Holden's Senior Center, (a chicken dinner fund raiser). We have attended some type of function almost every evening this week, (and leaving before it gets dark because both Susan and I are night blind). I now know why you walk door to door ... if you don't, by the time the election rolls around ... you'll be up to 800 pounds because of the amount you wind up eating!!! I keep reminding myself that an election is won, one vote at a time ... and also to keep perspective about the things that really matter ---- RALEIGH, North Carolina (AP) -- Lawyer drops dead while arguing case. "A defense lawyer was arguing a drunken driving case when he fell on the courtroom floor and died of an apparent heart attack, officials and friends said. Bailiffs and a police officer tried to administer CPR immediately after 57-year-old Tom Farris collapsed Thursday in the Wake County courthouse ... The county allocated money last year to buy the paddles but has been studying where they are needed." ---- what really matters, is getting the things you need, isn't it? .... <whispering> .... share with me ... where in a courthouse would the greatest need be for a defibrillator .... DUH!!!! HOW ABOUT THE COURTROOM??!!!
My greatest need remains Susan, and tonight as I drift off to sleep, I will say a prayer of thanks: I have what I need. I will also say a prayer for the safe return of our men and women in uniform, (care to join me?) .... <whispering> .... Please, Please, Please God ... let them come home safe and soon!!! Be and sleep well, you have what you need as well ... don't you? Let's make sure, our men and women in uniform do tool. If my post offends, I apologize ... that is not my intent. As always ...
A Warm Brotherly Hug
