Greets and Huggers. Posted the evening of March 24, 2006. For your edification, a definition of "Bigot ". Published in the Kansas City, Jewish Chronicles , this week by the Editor, a Mr. Rick Hellman ... he shared:

"A Rabbi arrives at a German airport. He asks a guy in the arrival hall, "Are you anti-Semitic?

"No! Of course no!!, replies the man.

He repeats the question to the next person. Who replies, "Who?? Me?? God forbid!!"

He asks a third, "Are you anti-Semitic?"

"Yes", answers the man.

"Good", says the Rabbi, "You are an honest man. Could you watch my luggage for a few moments?""

how about we change a few words:

An African-American arrives at the Atlanta airport. He asks a guy in the arrival hall, "Are you a racist?

"No! Of course not!!, replies the man.

He repeats the question to the next person. Who replies, "Who?? Me?? God forbid!!"

He asks a third, "Are you a racist?"

"Yes", answers the man.

"Good", says the African-American, "You are an honest man. Could you watch my luggage for a few moments?"

Are these posts offensive to you? They may not be. Maybe one is and the other not, (both are offensive to me). To me, there is no difference between the two, (although, Jewish folks I dearly love and respect, found the first borderline funny and the second in bad taste.) Why is that? ... and a report in Haaretz -- Most Jews would refuse to live in a building with Arabs. ""Racism is becoming mainstream. When people talk about transfer or about Arabs as a demographic time bomb, no one raises his voice against such statements. This is a worrisome phenomenon," Bakar Awada, director of the Center Against Racism, said yesterday while presenting the results of a survey on racism against Israeli Arabs .... In 75 percent of the reported incidents [of reported rasicm] the source of racism was institutional and involved government ministries or companies, or elected officials. In one case, an Arab computer professional looking for a job was rejected by a number of high-tech companies until he began submitting his resume under an assumed Jewish name, after which he was called in for an interview. Center officials said this was only one of many experiences that are familiar to Israeli Arabs, and claim that it represents a trend within Israeli Jewish society" ....... while in ST. LOUIS, Missouri (AP) -- Host, praising Rice, utters slur; fired. "A St. Louis radio station quickly fired a talk show host for uttering a racial epithet as he talked about Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on his morning show Wednesday ... "She's been chancellor of Stanford," Lenihan said on the air. "She's got the patent resume of somebody that has serious skill. She loves football. She's African-American, which would kind of be a big coon. A big coon. Oh my God. I am totally, totally, totally, totally, totally sorry for that." He said he had meant to say "coup" instead of the racial slur." And in Der Spiegel -- Germany's Real Divide. "In 1990, all of Germany celebrated the reunification of a country divided since World War II. But the optimism was naively misplaced. The real German division sees the North pitted against the South ... Much of southern Germany is Catholic while the northern Germans are almost exclusively Protestant. But the primary issue is prejudice. People in the cool, practical, intellectual, industrialized, liberal north of Germany think the lazy hick farmers in the south are backward and racist, and they talk funny too." Bigotry remains bigotry, doesn't it? Share with me why we regard our differences negatively, instead of celebrating the resultant diversity?

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Reuters) -- Texas busting drunks ... in bars. "Texas has begun sending undercover agents into bars to arrest drinkers for being drunk, a spokeswoman for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission said Wednesday. The first sting operation was conducted recently in a Dallas suburb where agents infiltrated 36 bars and arrested 30 people for public intoxication, said the commission's Carolyn Beck. Being in a bar does not exempt one from the state laws against public drunkenness, Beck said." Isn't this a prime example of 5%'ers, (the 5% in each party, currently in power ... running our America) ... legislating morality? How about you expend limited police resources arresting drunks behind the wheel? How about policing the border? ... Shutting down Meth Labs? Finding and taking into custody, folks who already have an outstanding warrant for their arrest, for some violent criminal act? Share with me the threat, to the public welfare, posed, by some drunk, red-neck, line dancing? ... <whispering> .... Rumor has it ... the new "Mattress Tag" task force will soon be unleashed. I know the folks in Texas, must feel much safer.

Al Jazeera - Hamas to shield fighters. "The intended interior minister in Hamas's government has said he will not order the arrest of fighters carrying out attacks against Israel ... "The day will never come when any Palestinian would be arrested because of his political affiliation or because of resisting the occupation" [Same story in Haaretz ... interesting how the perspectives differ.] Why are we funding Hamas? Let's put this in perspective. Suppose the Mexican government refused to arrest private citizens they know, wished to become suicide bombers, encouraged them to become so, and provided roadmaps, to our America, showing weak points and watering holes, on our common border ... so, wouldn't a reasonable person consider this "State Sponsored Terrorism"? As an aside, don't you feel safer, knowing law enforcement in Texas is busy busting drunks in Bars, instead of guarding our border with Mexico? The good news? Homeland Security has added Chihuahuas, to the "suspected terrorist list", (rumor has it, Homeland Security ... will file forfeiture liens ... attach and close down ... all Taco Bells in our America.) Just shows how misfocused our government is ... on the one hand, seeking new natural energy resources in Alaska, (like natural gas), while banning the ultimate natural gas resource in our America: a Taco Supreme.

While we celebrate our 1st Amendment "Freedom of Press" rights, by imprisoning reporters, when they seek to protect their sources, the Japanese see things differently: ASAHI NEWS (Tokyo) --- Court: Reporter justified in concealing source. "In stark contrast to a ruling just days ago, the Tokyo High Court on Friday said a reporter for Japan Broadcasting Corp. (NHK) was justified in refusing to reveal a source in a civil lawsuit ... Presiding Judge Yomatsu Hinagata of the Tokyo High Court said Friday: "The reporting activity of a media organization is a precondition for the guarantee of freedom of the press, which renders a service of providing the right to know of the people that is indispensable for the survival of a democratic society." Freedom of the press is THE indispensable foundation of any free society. As is freedom of speech and the right to peacefully assemble ... and I remain convinced, a strong, independent Judicial Branch, enforcing the contract we have with our elected representatives, (supported, if necessary), by an armed citizenry .... remains the first line of defence against those who would seek to enslave us, in the name of security, (or God). Participate in the political process, if you wish your children to enjoy our civil liberties. Your failure to do so, (as noted by our common Dear Friend, David Browning) .... at the primary level, has resulted in our current leadership.

CHICAGO --- Ambien sedative is tied to food foraging while sleepwalking. "The sleeping pill Ambien seems to unlock a primitive desire in some patients to eat, according to emerging medical case studies that describe how the drug's users sometimes sleepwalk into their kitchens, claw through their refrigerators and consume calories ranging into the thousands." There has been alot of press about the "Ambien Zombie Effect". Reports of sleep walking ... even folks operating their motor vehicles. <Smiling> ... I can see this drug prescribed by marriage counsellors ... has some really good marriage healing potential!! Have the patient, pop the pill ... and he/she can sleep through whatever marital appurtenances they aren't particularly fond of, while being able to fully participate. Course, there's a down side: CNN Sexsomnia: Not as funny as it sounds. "Sexsomnia is one of those fascinating conditions that give us an opportunity not only to examine questions about what is sleep or consciousness, but a chance to examine our views about sex." Interesting read.

BBC NEWS -- Pentagon plans cyber-insect army . "The Pentagon's defence scientists want to create an army of cyber-insects that can be remotely controlled to check out explosives and send transmissions. The idea is to insert micro-systems at the pupa stage, when the insects can integrate them into their body, so they can be remotely controlled later ... A similar scheme aimed at manipulating wasps failed when they flew off to feed and mate." Same problem the military has with human recruits, isn't it?. ... <whispering> ... think they would learn.

ASHLAND, Oregon (AP) -- Couple escape snow, not meth charges. "Arizona authorities have brought drug charges against a couple who were rescued with four family members from their snowbound motor home in Oregon this week. Warrants were issued in Snowflake, Arizona, for Elbert and Becky Higginbotham on Wednesday, a day after they were found in the mountains. The couple were charged with possession of dangerous drugs for sale -- methamphetamine -- and possession of drug paraphernalia." Can you picture two "Meth" freaks, trapped in a snowbound motor home, with each other, for a week? (rumor has it ... Hollywood has bought the rights ... for the made for TV movie!!)

Sitting here editing these Ramblings, (checking links), and thinking about the Larson Family. Thank you! .... to those in our "Family" who sent a check to me, (which I forwarded to Pat Reynolds), or Pat Reynolds, for the "Ad Hoc Flower Fund". Our "Family"sent flowers to Mary ... a small token, reminder, that she, Gregg and Chase, remain in our prayers. On the evening news, thousands of Latino's rallying against proposed toughened immigration laws ... I wonder how many of these protestors ... are here legally. Will have a full house at Ft Timmerman tomorrow ... some SFIG members running for office will stop by and have their formal campaign pics taken ... with an opportunity to compare notes ... perhaps design campaign materials: I plan on learning alot!! We have "Family" members running for office ... Bret Rich, (Alderman), Randy Head, (Judge), Janice Durbin, (Prosecutor), Matt Hill, (Representative) and Richie Milzark, (Judge). As our brother Charles Mc noted ... the "life blood" of any campaign is money. Please, can you afford to send them money? $25.00 perhaps? We NEED mainstream Solo and Small Firm guys in office ... speaking for the 90% of us, not represented by the 5%'ers. Get involved, if not for you .... for your children!

The love of my life, (Susan), opined, suggested, I tone down, eliminate, any controversial subjects/opinions in these Ramblings. She thinks I would make a good Judge ... and wants me to win the primary. I do too ... but I'am not willing to remain silent on issues that need to be discussed, debated and if change is necessary, changed. May cost me an election ... but will sure allow me to retain my self respect/who I am. Winning an election is not worth losing that. Even with Susan making "suggestions", she remains the corner stone of my life, what I live for, (and thanking God for the privilege of doing so) ... while holding her, as we fall asleep .... and while I whisper a prayer for Mary, for you and our men and women in uniform, (care to join me?) .... <whispering> .... Please, Please, Please, God ... bring them home, safe and soon!! Be and sleep well ... know, you are safe, because others are not. If my post offends, I apologize ... that is not my intent. As Always ....

A Warm Brotherly Hug

Karl (the dumb ole country lawyer from Holden, Missouri)
